A Few Helpful Hints
Quick Info:
8:35 a.m. Entry will begin.
First Nutrition Break: 10:30 a.m.
Second Nutrition Break: 12:50 p.m.
Kindergarten School Day ends at 3:10 p.m. Pick up begins at 3:05 p.m.
Kindergarten Supervision ENDS at 3:15 p.m.
Students will be dismissed to you (or other specified caregiver) from the Kindergarten playground.
Please try to be on time for pick up, as it is very scary for kindergarten children to be dismissed and not see a familiar face waiting for them! If you are running late children will be waiting in the office, supervised by office staff.
Classroom Routines
Daily Physical Activity and Outdoor Play
The children will be in the gym or outdoors everyday for a period of play and development. Safety dictates the necessity of running shoes in both situations. Have your child wear play clothes and shoes that are appropriate for Physical Education activities and active play every day. Each child will need a pair of running shoes to be kept at school for indoor play. Your child should be able to take off and put on his/her shoes independently. Please keep flip flops, crocs, and dress shoes at home.
Mr. Zippy
Mr. Zippy is a mailbag used as a source of communication between home and school. It is very important that the Mr. Zippy remains in your child's backpack and is returned to school every day. Notes, home reading books, library books and student work will be sent home in the zippy. Please send any communication from home back to school in the zippy. They will be collected daily.
Nutrition Breaks
There are two nutrition breaks each day. Healthy food should be provided for each break as students have time to eat during each nutritional break. Post's Corners is an eco-friendly school, please consider sending food items in reusable containers. All lunches and snack items must be nut-free as we have students at our school with severe food allergies. Free Flow snack and lunch may be happening in your child's classroom already.
Throughout the year there will be opportunities to order pizza, Lunch Lady, pitas and milk. Please stay tuned for order forms that will be sent home from the office.
Library
Each class will have a designated library time each week. At this time your child may select 1 library book to borrow for 1 week. Please remember to return the book before the next library time. If your child's book is not returned, they will have to wait until the next library time to select a new book.
Clothing and Shoes
Please keep a complete change of clothing (underwear, shirt, pants and socks) in a labelled Ziploc bag in your child's cubby. Remember to label all items of clothing and shoes. Please remember to change clothing according to seasonal temperatures. Please advise teachers if you would like your child's extra clothes sent home.
